
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 5) — Meggie Ochoa bagged the Philippines’ second gold medal in the 19th Asian Games after defeating UAE’s Balqees Abdulla, 1-0, in the women’s jiu-jitsu -48 kg division finals on Thursday.
Ochoa had to beat Nazgul Rakhayeva of Kazakhstan via submission in the quarterfinals then Thailand’s Pechrada Kacie Tan through points, 4-2, in the semifinals to reach the finals.
This is Ochoa’s latest gold collection which includes the World Championship and Asian Championship.
Ochoa joins top pole vaulter EJ Obiena as the only Filipino gold medalists so far in the continental showpiece.
