Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 25) — The Philippine women’s football team suffered a 5-1 loss to South Korea in the 19th Asian Games Monday at the Wenzhou Sports Centre Stadium.
The Filipinas took the lead early courtesy of a Sarina Bolden goal at the eight-minute mark. But things went downhill for the Philippines after its promising start.
The Koreans fired back with five unanswared goals including a hat-trick by Hwayeon Son.
The Filipinas had a couple of good looks on the pitch but just couldn’t convert and bring themselves back on the scoreboard.
South Korea remained unbeaten with a 2-0 win-loss slate, while the Philippines fell to a 1-1 record in Group E.
The Filipinas will face Myanmar, which defeated them in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games, in their final group stage match on Sept. 28.
