Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 7) — Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena bagged another gold medal on Wednesday after clearing the 5.92-meter mark in the NetAachen Domspringen tournament in Aachen, Germany.
Obiena bested USA’s Sam Kendricks and France’s Thibaut Collet, who settled for silver and bronze, respectively.
Kendricks cleared 5.87m, while Collet vaulted past 5.82m.
This is Obiena’s second gold in Germany after he also cleared 5.92 meters in the ISTAF Berlin on Sept. 4.
His back-to-back championships is a bounce back from his 10th place finish in the Zurich leg of the 2023 Wanda Diamond League on Sept. 1.
