Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Nostalgia never goes out of style and that goes especially true for music. Following the successful Tugtugan Sitenta concert now comes Tugtugan Sitenta 2 with more of the featured artists of Tugtugan Sitenta and the addition of 2 hitmakers from the ‘70s.
Seasoned artists for Tugtugan Sitenta 2 include Nonoy Tan and Rey Magtoto of Wadab, Boyfriends lead vocalist Joey Abando, Mon Espia of Labuyo, Male Rigor and Monet Gaskell of pop/disco Group VST & Company, “Queen of Pinoy Rock n Roll” Sampaguita, Pete Gatela, Carlos Parsons and Yujin Baydal of the vocal group Hagibis, “Pinoy Rock Legend” Mike Hanopol. Ms. Leah Navarro and balladeer Marco Sison will certainly bring back more fond memories to an already nostalgic lineup of 70’s pop/rock/disco icons.
Leah Navarro was in her late teens when she achieved pop star status back in the 70s and 80s. A major highlight in her career was her masterful interpretation of the Grand Prize-winning song “Isang Mundo, Isang Awit” at the Metro Manila Popular Music Festival. On the other hand, Marco Sison gained fame after winning in a singing contest in the popular noontime TV show Student Canteen back in the late 70s. Since then, Marco has developed into an outstanding vocal performer and is generally considered one of the classic balladeers to have captured the vocal essence of OPM. Aside from performing solo, Marco is also a member of the all-star singing ensemble OPM Hitmakers where they continue to do both local and foreign concerts.
