
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 25) — Participants in the FIBA Basketball World Cup — whether as athletes, personnel, or accredited media, among others — can get free rides on both lines of the Light Rail Transit (LRT), and the Metro Light Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3), for over two weeks.
LRT Line 1 and MRT-3 made their separate announcements on Friday, a day after LRT Line 2 published a similar notice.
The duration of the free services slightly differs per train system: Aug. 23 to Sept. 12 for LRT-2; Aug. 25 to Sept. 12 for LRT-1; and Aug. 25 to Sept. 10 for MRT-3.
They said passengers must only show their FIBA World Cup ID or FIBA accreditation pass.
The following are eligible to ride LRT-1 at no cost:
– FIBA Basketball World Cup local organizing committee members
– Official volunteers
– Accredited media
– FIBA safety and security personnel
– FIBA technical and participating teams
LRT-2 meanwhile listed the following FIBA World Cup participants:
– Athletes
– Coaches
– Delegates from other countries
– FIBA Basketball World Cup organizing committee members
– Volunteers
– Safety and security personnel
– Accredited media
For MRT-3, these passengers may avail of the free rides:
– Athletes
– Volunteers
– Other delegates of the FIBA Basketball World Cup
