CHED flags Manila-based university for unauthorized programs

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 21) – The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has issued a show cause order to a university in Ermita, Manila for its unauthorized educational programs.

CHED said the Philippine Christian University (PCU) ran transnational higher education programs and shortened graduate programs without permits from the agency.

The commission said it issued the show cause order on Aug. 15.

CHED noted that the PCU also failed to submit relevant information on its international partners and did not follow the prescribed faculty-to-student ratio in its Doctor of Philosophy in Business Management program.

The PCU also posted public announcements of its transnational higher education programs without regulatory permit, and partnered with institutions that are not accredited as quality higher education providers, CHED added.

CNN Philippines has sought PCU’s statement on this matter.
