Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 27) — The second alarm was raised as the water level at the Marikina River and the San Mateo-Batasan Bridge in Rizal Province continues to rise on Thursday due to strong rains from Typhoon Egay.

Residents of Marikina City were advised to move to designated evacuation centers after the water level at the river rose to 16.0 meters at 11:11 a.m.

Meanwhile, the water level at the San Mateo-Batasan Bridge crossing the Marikina River also rose to 19.27 meters as of 9:30 a.m.

The third alarm and forced evacuation will be enforced when it goes up to 20 meters.

Local disaster response officials reported that there are evacuees staying at the Barangay Sta. Ana Covered Court and Barangay Guinayang National High School.

No storm signals are hoisted over Metro Manila, but the state weather bureau raised yellow rainfall warning over the capital region and Rizal Province.

Typhoon Egay exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday, but another tropical depression is expected to intensify and enter the country’s monitoring area soon.
