Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 24) — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said that the total electrification of the Philippines will be achieved before he leaves his post in 2028.
During his second State of the Nation Address on Monday, Marcos said that his administration has been “relentless” in pushing for the complete electrification of the country.
One year into his presidency, Marcos said nearly 500,000 homes have secured access to electricity.
“We will spare no effort to achieve full household electrification by the end of my term. 100%-electrification is within our reach,” he said.
“Renewable energy is the way forward. We are aggressively promoting renewables, so that it provides a 35% share in the power mix by 2030, and then on to 50% by 2040,” Marcos said.
The president has been urging private players to invest in the local renewable energy market.
