3 Metro cities to offer free rides amid 3-day transport strike

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 17) – Parañaque, Pasig and Quezon City will offer free rides beginning Monday amid the scheduled transport strike, the local government units announced in separate social media posts.

Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez said 40 vehicles will be deployed from July 24 to July 26 along Dr. A. Santos Avenue, or Sucat Road.

The “libreng sakay” route will cover Baclaran, Ninoy Aquino Avenue, Quirino Avenue, and East and West Service Roads.

The Pasig local government will deploy buses and other service vehicles to service commuters during the planned three-day protest action.

It said the schedule and routes of the free rides will be announced on its Facebook page.

Commuters in Quezon City may also continue to ride its city busses for free on Monday, its local government said.

It added that three busses from the city’s General Services Department and 142 barangay vehicles are ready to be deployed should there be a need for additional units.

Commuters may check the city’s bus service schedule on the LGU’s Facebook page. They can avail of the free rides in eight locations:
