Marcos cancels Apayao trip due to bad weather

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 15) — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s trip to Apayao for the 36th Cordillera Day celebration on Saturday did not push through due to bad weather conditions.

“Due to inclement weather, the PSG (Presidential Security Group) has advised to cancel President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s visit to Apayao today,” the Presidential Communications Office said.

Malacañang has declared July 15 as a special non-working holiday in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), in commemoration of its foundation anniversary.

The indoor program proceeded as scheduled in the municipality of Luna on Saturday morning.

Over the past few days, parts of the country have been drenched in rain due to the southwest monsoon or habagat, which has been strengthened by the storm “Dodong.”

The state weather bureau has lifted all wind signals as of morning, but it said the enhanced habagat may still bring gusty conditions over several areas, including the CAR and Metro Manila.
