Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 10) – The Philippine National Police (PNP) is finalizing preparations for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s second State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 24.
PNP Chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda said Monday the police will deploy around 23,000 personnel and force multipliers on SONA day.
“Depende sa deployment of personnel nag aadjust lang yan [the deployment of personnel will adjust] depending on monitored number of rallyists and movement undertaken by VIPs,” he said in a press briefing.
The PNP also said protesters would be allowed to hold peaceful demonstrations in designated areas.
“There will be consideration for rerouting of traffic depende sa kung ano masasakupan ng raliyista [depending on where rallies will take place],” he added.
As of Monday morning, the PNP said it has not received any threat to the SONA.
