Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 6) — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has formally appointed Emmanuel Ledesma Jr. as president and chief executive officer of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) after naming him acting chief last year.

The Presidential Communications Office confirmed this on Wednesday, as it released a list of newly appointed officials of different government agencies.

Marcos designated Ledesma, a member of the health insurer’s expert panel and board of directors, as acting president and CEO of PhilHealth in November 2022.

He formerly served as president and CEO of the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation, which manages state-owned power assets.

In a statement on Thursday, PhilHealth welcomed Ledesma’s appointment and committed to “provide full support to him as he leads PhilHealth in providing every Filipino with financial access to quality and affordable healthcare services.”
