Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 3) – The four-year-old nephew of photojournalist Joshua Abiad, believed to be the target of a gun attack last week, has died, Quezon City Police District chief Nicolas Torre confirmed Monday.

The shooting incident happened late last week in front of their house in Quezon City while they were onboard their vehicle.

Abiad sustained two gunshot wounds, while three more family members got injured, including the child.

A bystander was also hit by a stray bullet, authorities said.

At least two unidentified male suspects were involved in the ambush, the police said, noting a manhunt operation was ongoing.

According to National Capital Region Police Office Chairman Raoul Esperas, the 37-year-old photojournalist was a regular signatory of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in drug busts as required by law.

The law requires law enforcers to have mandatory witnesses, the media and representatives from the Department of Justice, during drug operations.
