Albay creates disaster response desk for donations for Mayon evacuees

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 27) — The local government of Albay has created a disaster response help desk to centralize the flow of cash, in-kind donations, and services for evacuees amid Mayon Volcano’s unrest.

The help desk is manned by the Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office (APSEMO) staff.

In a statement, the local government said the help desk will facilitate support and provisions from national government agencies, non-government organizations, local and international organizations, and private sector agencies

The help desk will also accommodate inquiries and complaints about the donations.

All donors will coordinate with APSEMO and the office will decide which department or sector the goods will be entrusted to.

APSEMO will coordinate with the Provincial Health Office about hygiene kits, medicines, and other health care goods while donated food and non-food products will be turned over to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.

For cash and check donations, donors should directly coordinate with the Provincial Treasurer’s Office (PTO).

Benefactors may also hand-carry the money to the PTO for acknowledgement receipts.

The APSEMO is also tasked to submit all consolidated data from concerned offices to the Governor’s Office, Provincial Administrator Office, Provincial Accounting Office, and Provincial Information Office.

The local government of Albay has placed the province under a state of calamity due to Mayon Volcano’s increasing activity.
