AirAsia Philippines on Thursday said the lower surcharge would benefit passengers.

The airline noted that the continuous lowering of passenger fuel surcharge “positively affected the travel behavior of guests as manifested in AirAsia Philippines’ March to May bookings which yielded 1.57 million seats which is equivalent to 75% of the pre-pandemic figure.”

In December 2022, the fuel surcharge stood at Level 8. The CAB downgraded it to Level 7 in January, where it remained until March.

Fuel surcharge was further downgraded to Level 6 in April, then Level 5 in May.

The CAB last set the fuel surcharge to Level 4 in May 2022.
