Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 13) — After a disappointing 11-point loss to host Cambodia, Gilas Pilipinas demolished Singapore, 105-45, at the men’s 5×5 basketball tournament of the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games on Saturday.
The victory over winless Singapore pushed the Philippines into the knockout semifinals round of the tournament on May 15, during which they will face either Thailand or last year’s SEA Games champion Indonesia.
The Filipino cagers now have a record of two wins and one loss in the biennial competition.
Marcio Lassiter led Gilas with 16 points, while Jaymar Perez contributed 13 markers and 11 rebounds.
Justin Brownlee and Jerom Lastimosa added 12 points and 5 rebounds each.
