
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 7) — Gilas Pilipinas on Sunday bowed to Vietnam in the women’s 3×3 basketball in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games. Final score: 21-16.
The Philippine team could not get ahead of Vietnam in the final match-up held at the Elephant Hall 2 in Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Veteran Afril Bernardino tallied 8 points to lead the country’s representatives, but Thao Vy Truong and Thao My Truong blocked the Filipinas’ attempt with their 10 and 7 points, respectively.
Before the finale, the Gilas Women beat Cambodia, 21-20.
Gilas Women made history by winning the inaugural 3×3 basketball event in the 2019 SEA Games held in Manila. But the team missed a podium finish in the 2022 edition of the competition in Hanoi.
