Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 7) — ECHO captured its first Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines title after an emphatic 4-0 sweep against Blacklist International in the Season 11 grand finals Sunday at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
This was a rematch of the M4 World Championship grand finals held earlier this year in Indonesia, where ECHO also swept Blacklist.
ECHO was aggressive in all four matches, establishing that it has already broken Blacklist’s code in the Land of Dawn.
The road to glory was not easy for ECHO who ended the regular season as the second seed. ECHO bowed to RSG Slate Philippines in the upper bracket semifinals to drop to the lower bracket then had to beat Bren Esports to keep their title hopes alive.
ECHO’s EXP laner Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya was hailed the Finals Most Valuable Player for his consistent performance.
ECHO will take home the lion’s share of the $150,000 (around ₱8.25 million) prize pool.
ECHO and Blacklist will represent the Philippines in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup 2023 this June in Cambodia.
