Annie Ramirez bags 6th SEA Games gold for PH in jiu jitsu

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 6) — Annie Ramirez bagged the Philippines’ 6th gold medal at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia after an undefeated run in the 57kg women’s ne-waza No gi competition in jiu jitsu.

The 32-year-old Ramirez submitted Vietnamese Thi Thuong Le with a kneebar to earn her third SEA Games gold medal.

She first won gold in jiu jitsu under the 55kg women’s division at the 2019 SEA Games hosted by the Philippines. In 2022, she earned her second gold after topping the 62kg women’s division at the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam.

On May 4, fellow Team Philippines jiu jitsu fighter Kaila Napolis won the Philippines’ first SEA Games gold in the women’s ne-waza gi category under the 52kg weight class.
