PH COVID-19 daily cases may remain at 600 until June — DOH

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 2) —The country’s average daily COVID-19 cases may remain at 600 until June, the Department of Health said Tuesday.

“Based on the projections, hanggang sa June, we are seeing na medyo may pagtaas pa hanggang mga 600 na numero ng kaso. Rosario Vergeire in a press briefing.

There were 4,456 new COVID-19 cases recorded from April 24 to 30, with an average of 637 cases daily. This is 42% higher than the 3,148 cases recorded in the previous week.

But DOH Officer-in-Charge Ma. Rosario Veirgeire said the rise in COVID-19 cases is due to “multitude of factors” such as the virus’s mutation, increased mobility and others.

Moreover, the DOH also said it has not confirmed any deaths from April 17 to 30 as it is still validating information.

So hindi po natin ma-asses if the person died of COVID or died of other illnesses,” said Vergeire.
