Fuel price rollback eyed next week

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 29) – Both gasoline and diesel prices are expected to go down next week by more than ₱1, Unioil Petroleum Philippines said Saturday.

In its advisory, Unioil said diesel prices are expected to decrease by ₱1.20 to ₱1.40 per liter while gasoline prices may drop by ₱1.40 to ₱1.50 per liter.

The adjustment is forecast to be effective on May 2 to 8.

As of April 25, the Department of Energy’s oil price monitoring showed a year-to-date net decrease in local diesel prices by ₱P3.05 per liter. Gasoline, on the other hand, had a net increase of ₱7.55 per liter.

The DOE said the increase in oil prices was largely driven by week-on-week average of Philippine peso depreciated versus the US dollar by 95 centavos to ₱56.01 from ₱55.06 in the previous week.
