Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 27) — Prized spiker Marck Espejo will now bring his talents to the Land of the Morning Calm after being drafted in the Asian quota of the Korean V-League.
The Cignal HD Spikers outside hitter will play for the defending champions in the men’s division, the Korean Air Jumbos.
Also drafted in the league were volleyball players from Mongolia, Japan, and Taiwan.
Other local volleyball players who tried out in the league were Manuel Sumanguid, JP Bugaoan and Jau Umandal.
Espejo, a product of the Ateneo de Manila University volleyball program, was a five-time Most Valuable Player awardee in the UAAP from Season 76 to 80.
In his last flight in the UAAP, he set a record of 55 points in one match – 47 attacks, six blocks, and two aces.
He was also an MVP in the Spikers’ Turf and Premier Volleyball League.
Espejo earlier made his international debut in Japan, Thailand, and Bahrain.
Last week, middle blocker MJ Phillips was also drafted in the women’s division of the Korean volleyball tournament.
