
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 16) — The TNT Tropang Giga knocked down a finals record 21 triples to demolish Barangay Ginebra, 116-104, in Game 4 of the 2023 PBA Governors’ Cup championship Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
The best-of-seven series is now tied at two games apiece.
Import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson powered Tropang Giga with 36 points and 10 rebounds.
Jayson Castro and Mikey Williams added 17 points and 16 points for TNT, respectively.
With RR Pogoy ruled out of the finals due to a finger injury, Kib Montalbo stepped up in his absence to score a conference-high 16 points for the Tropang Giga.
TNT broke the record 20 treys it previously set in the 2015 Commissioner’s Cup finals against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
Ginebra fell behind by as many 23 points, a deficit that proved to be too huge to overcome in the match.
Justin Brownlee had 28 points for Ginebra.
The pivotal Game 5 is scheduled on April 19 at the Big Dome.
