Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 12) — The Department of Health’s (DOH) latest projections have shown the country may see up to 611 national daily COVID-19 cases by May 15, Health officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire told reporters on Wednesday.
In a briefing, Vergeire said the projections by the modeling tool FASSSTER on Tuesday showed a range of 289 to 611 daily infections by May 15 nationwide.
In the National Capital Region (NCR), estimated numbers are between 30 to 122 daily cases.
Vergeire said FASSSTER uses transmission rate, level of vaccination, and compliance to minimum public health standards for its forecast.
She also reported that ICU and severe and critical admissions have been on a plateau since early February, adding that hospital utilization rates have remained at low risk.
“As of April 9, 2023, sumatotal 378 ang ating severe and critical cases na bumubuo sa 10.22% ng ating [a total of 378 severe and critical cases which makes up 10.22% of the country’s] total admissions, remaining to be less than 20% of our total COVID-19 admissions since January of 2022,” Vergeire said.
The DOH official said Mindanao and NCR have been continuously showing upticks in COVID-19 infections, but case trends in other areas of the country are plateauing.
“Sa kabuuan, nananatiling may less than 100 cases per day sa lahat ng areas na ito nitong mga nakaraang linggo,” she added.
