Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 7) — A newly-improved terminal 2 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) awaits travelers as its interior has been revamped with a Filipino-inspired aesthetic.
The new design of the airport has wooden furniture, from the baskets that cover the lights in the ceiling to the rattan chairs in the lounging area.
Tourism information centers and other counters were also designed in a wooden aesthetic.
A video posted by Tourism Sec. Christina Garcia Frasco shows the lounging areas has a mini garden with available charging stations while some walls of the terminal were covered with plant walls and solihiya or rattan panels.
According to the Manila International Airport Authority, NAIA Terminal 2 will be used exclusively for domestic flights starting July 1.
This is part of the Terminal Assignment Rationalization Program, which aims to improve the airport’s immigration system and augment the needed manpower between the three airport terminals.
