
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 31) – Authorities have identified the person responsible for the killing of a graduating DLSU-Dasmariñas student, the head of the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.
PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. said a certain Angelito Erlano has been tagged as the suspect in the killing of 24-year-old Queen Leanne Daguinsin on March 28.
This development came three days after the attack on the student in her dormitory in Cavite.
Authorities also located the suspect’s residence through the backtracking of CCTV footages. In a follow-up operation, the police found a black backpack, which was believed to be owned by the victim, and two t-shirts.
According to the police’s records, the suspect had previous robbery cases.
On Thursday, the local government of Cavite announced it is offering a ₱1.1 million reward for information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect.
According to the autopsy, Dasmariñas, Cavite Police Chief PLtCol Juan Oruga Jr. earlier said the victim had 14 stab wounds: four in the arm, which were considered to be defensive wounds, and nine on the rest of the body. He said a neck wound was the fatal blow.
He said there were no indications of rape in Daguinsin’s death.
CCTV footage showed the suspect, wearing a blue shirt, a mask, and a cap, walking out of the dormitory after the incident with what were presumed to be the victim’s belongings. While the victim’s door was double-locked, the suspect was able to enter through the window.
