Gov’t expects Bataan-Cavite bridge project to generate 23K jobs

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 31) — The planned construction of the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge is seen to open jobs for thousands of Filipinos and cut travel time from the current five hours to just 45 minutes, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said on Friday.

During his visit to Mariveles town, Marcos told reporters that his administration estimates 23,000 jobs to be generated during the five-year construction of the bridge, which will connect Barangay Alas-asin in Mariveles, Bataan to Barangay Timalan Concepcion in Naic, Cavite.

The president added that the ₱175.6-billion link – which would span 32 kilometers – would significantly help decongest Metro Manila, as well as bring down prices of commodities and services by reducing transport and logistics costs.

“It is also impressive to think about how this project will support the development of seaports in the said provinces, making them potential international gateways for the country,” Marcos said during the “milestone ceremony” for the planned bridge.

“If this bridge is any indication of what comes next, then I should not be the only one who looks forward to the future with great optimism,” he added.

According to Malacañang, the project is being developed by the Department of Public Works and Highways with technical assistance funding from the Asian Development Bank.
