Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 30) — Nine public schools in Makati City are now powered by solar energy, Mayor Abby Binay said.
These are San Antonio National High School, Makati High School, East Rembo Elementary School, Makati Elementary School, Pembo Elementary School, San Antonio Village Elementary School, Nicanor Garcia Elementary School, Tibagan High School, and Rizal Elementary School.
“The use of solar panels in schools is just one step towards achieving our goal of creating a more sustainable and resilient city,” she said in a statement on Thursday.
For the second phase, 10 more public schools will transition to tap solar energy.
The city government plans to install solar panels in 25 public and elementary high schools.
“The city’s solar panel project is an excellent example of how local governments can take action to promote sustainable energy practices and lead by example,” Binay said.
