Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 30) — Police said there were no indications of rape in the death of a De La Salle University Dasmariñas student, adding that theft may have been the motive in the killing.

According doon sa autopsy report, result po ng SOCO (Scene of the Crime Operatives), negative tayo doon sa rape case na pwede mangyari sa biktima. Walang rape na naganap doon sa biktima,” Dasmariñas, Cavite Police Chief PLtCol Juan Oruga Jr. told CNN Philippines’ Balitaan.

CCTV footage showed the suspect, wearing a blue shirt, a mask and a cap, walking out of the dormitory after the incident with what were presumed to be the victim’s belongings.

The 24-year-old student was identified by De La Salle University Dasmariñas as Queen Leanne Daguinsin.

Oruga confirmed that the door of Daguinsin’s room was secured with a double lock, and that the suspect was able to enter through the window, where the grill was left open.

He said Daguinsin was killed at around 1:30 a.m., but her body was only discovered by the dormitory caretaker in the afternoon.

According to the autopsy, Oruga said the victim had 14 stab wounds: four in the arm, which were considered to be defensive wounds, and nine on the rest of the body. He said a neck wound was the fatal blow.

The local government of Cavite is offering a ₱1.1 million reward for information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect.

In a statement, De La Salle University Dasmariñas encouraged its community to wear black and participate in the prayer vigil for justice for Daguinsin on Thursday, March 30.

Earlier, the school said it will impose stricter security measures in the campus and had asked increased police visibility in the area. It also said it would work closely with authorities in the case.
