Gov’t plans to build 1k houses for military, police

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 22) – The government plans to build 1,000 houses in Cavite under a housing program for the military and the Philippine National Police (PNP), President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said Wednesday.

“We found a property in Cavite that we find is suitable to begin a housing program not only for the military but also for the PNP,” the president told reporters.

“We decided, as a pilot program, to build 1,000 units, 500 for the military, 500 for the PNP, and we will see how that goes,” he added.

Marcos also said officials are looking into the financing scheme for the housing project, and what will happen if a uniformed personnel is transferred to another place of assignment.

On Tuesday, he said public as well as private banks can be involved in the financing scheme for the program.

Marcos held a meeting with PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr., Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff Gen. Andres Centino, Human Settlements Secretary Jose Acuzar, and Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla regarding the housing project.

“We have to develop the concepts further but I’m determined to provide the housing for our uniformed personnel,” Marcos said.
