Liza Soberano: I’m finally taking control, living my life for me

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 27) — Actress Liza Soberano has opened up about her struggles in the local entertainment industry, and shared how she took a new career path.

In a 14-minute vlog posted on Sunday, she looked back on her over 10-year career. During this period, she said her works only revolved around three genres—romance, comedy, and drama—and she worked with only one main-co-star, three directors, and one production company.

“During all those years, I was never really asked for my input, my thoughts, my ideas,” Soberano said. “I felt like I was being told to be just a flower for so long.”

To be able to present the Liza Soberano that the world knows, the 25-year-old actress said she sacrificed her childhood, freedom, and happiness.

“I think that I’ve earned the right to finally be me, to finally be able to do things for me as Hope Soberano,” she said, referring to her real name.

After signing with her new agency Careless Music in 2022, Soberano said she finally started exploring a world of being able to create and tell her story and hopefully of others as well.

“For the first time, I’m finally living my life for me,” she added.

Since then, Soberano has been focused on promoting herself on the international stage.

She also revealed that she is working on a new campaign, which will be released on Feb. 27. The actress said she was involved in the pre-production stage of the project, which would be her “first jab at directing.”

While she is working on a new path, Soberano said she remains grateful for her supporters and she hopes they would understand her decisions.

Soberano of the popular love team LizQuen rose to fame in the 2014 TV series “Forever More” alongside her partner Enrique Gil.
