Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 15) — Motorists can now renew their vehicle registrations online through the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) portal, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced on Tuesday.
But before renewing online, car owners need to secure a Certificate of Coverage or car insurance, and their vehicles must be brought to a Private Motor Vehicle Inspection Center or PMVIC.
“Both the validated insurance and the motor vehicle inspection report will be electronically sent to the LTMS,” said LTO chief Jose Arturo Tugade.
The agency has posted a guide on the online renewal process.
The LTO said the online service is limited to plain renewals, and does not yet include transactions like change of ownership, color, or engine, as well as new vehicle registrations, among others.
