
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 7) — Some ₱30.9-billion worth of illegal drugs were seized nationwide during its operations in 2022, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.
In its 2022 accomplishment report presented to Malacañang, PDEA said the commonly used drugs are shabu, marijuana and ecstasy.
It said at least ₱738.6-million worth of marijuana plants and derivatives were also destroyed in 237 sites.

PDEA noted that syndicates are taking advantage of the country’s “archipelagic nature,” conducting drug-related dealings and shipments through “seaports, airports, mail and parcel services.”

According to the report, nearly 46,000 cases were filed against 53,002 drug personalities arrested in some 37,000 operations. Majority of them were shabu-related cases.

Out of 25,306 resolved cases last year, 83% or 21,112 resulted in conviction while 6% or 1,439 cases were dismissed by the courts, PDEA said.
More than 300,000 Persons Who Use Drugs (PWUDs) underwent community-based drug rehabilitation programs, while about 67,000 PWUDs received intervention programs, it added.
In 2021, the Philippine National Police reported that it seized ₱8.5-billion worth of illegal drugs during its operations with PDEA.
