
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 26) — More mobile subscribers can now register their SIM cards, with the government setting up registration sites in remote areas nationwide.
The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) said in a statement Thursday that it used three parameters to identify which areas would be covered. These include the number of the area’s telco or internet access infrastructure; the number of geographically isolated and disadvantaged area barangays; and the population.
“The endeavor is aimed at maximizing SIM subscriber participation in the SIM Registration process, thereby helping ensure the successful implementation of the SIM Registration Act,” said NTC Officer-in-Charge Commissioner Ella Blanca B. Lopez.
For the first kickoff, the NTC, together with other government agencies and telco players, deployed registration booths to the following remote areas:

Implemented almost a month ago, subscribers have until April 26, this year to register their SIM cards.
