Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 21) — Two dismissed police officers wanted for robbery and the kidnapping of an e-sabong master agent in 2021 have surrendered, according to authorities.

Former staff sergeant Darly Paghangaan and former patrolman Rigel Brosas separately surrendered to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) on Jan. 19.

On Jan. 17, a Laguna Regional Trial Court issued an arrest warrant against the two for the crimes of kidnapping and serious illegal detention, and robbery with violence.

IMEG Director General Warren De Leon said they surrendered after a series of negotiations.

Paghangaan and Brosas were two of three cops earlier indicted by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

They were linked to the kidnapping of cockfighter Ricardo Lasco in August 2021. They allegedly pretended to be operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and robbed Lasco’s family during the abduction

Lasco’s wife, his sister-in-law, his mother-in-law, and his wife’s cousin identified the suspects.

Meanwhile, Lasco remains missing.

However, of the three cops originally indicted, no update has been given on dismissed patrolman Roy Navarete, the remaining indictee.
