Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 16) — Around four years since their debut, K-pop girl group Itzy has definitely made a number of hit songs. Which among these does each of the members love to perform?
Speaking to CNN Philippines prior to their two-day Manila concert during the weekend, Itzy’s main vocalist Lia, and Yuna, the group’s “maknae” or youngest, said it would be their debut song “Dalla Dalla” for them.
“It means a lot to us since it’s our debut song and it’s the song that kind of represents ourselves to our Midzys,” Lia said referring to the group’s fandom name.
“The message that the song has about ‘loving myself’ is basically one of the themes that we continue out on all the time, so I think that’s one of the songs that best represents our identity,” she added.
Lia also said the song has a lot of memories for the group since it is also one of the tracks they performed when they last visited the Philippines in 2019 for their showcase.
As for the group’s main rapper and lead dancer Ryu-jin, she said they also have notable B-side tracks.
“I want to recommend you ‘24Hrs’ from the Wannabe album. It’s really hip and it’s a very cool song,” she said.
Being one of the dancers of the group, Chae-ryeong said its “Wannabe” — one of their title songs — for her for its addictive “shoulder dance.”
As for Itzy’s leader Ye-ji, it would be their latest song “Cheshire” because of its “very attractive sound” and “very attractive dancing point.”
Itzy just concluded a two-day concert in the Philippines on Saturday and Sunday for their “Checkmate” world tour. This was more than three years since the group held a showcase in the country in 2019.
Ye-ji said the group is glad their first stop for their Asia tour is in the Philippines and that the members prepared a lot for the Filipino Midzys.
Yu-na noted that aside from their hit songs, each member also has her own solo performances that will surely leave an impact to their fans.
With a new year ahead, the JYP Entertainment girl group said they have a lot of things prepared so Midzys should stay tuned.
“We hope that the rest of our Asia tour we are going to do it safely and wonderfully, having communication with a lot of people here and we also have a lot of lineups for our 2023 performances and activities so we hope you all guys are excited,” Ye-ji said in Korean.
In February 2019, the five-member girl group made its debut with the album “IT’z Different” and title track “Dalla Dalla.” Itzy is also known for its other hit songs like “ICY,” “Not Shy,” “LOCO,” and “Sneakers.”
