
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 11) — Ten people died due to the effect of low pressure areas (LPAs) that hit several regions in the country since Jan. 2, according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).
The office released the data on Wednesday, adding four people were injured due to the LPAs.
The report covered Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, and the Bangsamoro Region.
It showed nearly 292,000 people, or over 69,000 families, were affected with more than 3,200 people, or 784 families, displaced.
The OCD said Tubod town in Lanao del Norte has been placed under a state of calamity.
The cost of damage to infrastructure nationwide stood at more than ₱153 million, while damage to agriculture was at ₱111.7 million.
At least 487 houses were also either partially or totally destroyed.
Around ₱11.9 million worth of assistance have been provided, the OCD said.
