
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 2) – The country logged 3,458 new COVID-19 infections between Dec. 26 to Jan. 1 or the last monitoring week for 2022.
The comparable weekly figure was 5,690 from Dec. 19 to Dec. 25.
The Department of Health (DOH) also recorded an average of 494 daily cases in the last week of 2022. This is lower by 39% from the Christmas week’s daily case average of 813.

Meanwhile, a total of 369 new Covid-19 cases, 18 new deaths, and 777 new recoveries were listed on Jan. 2.
Guido David, fellow at the independent group OCTA Research, said the positivity rate in Metro Manila, or the percentage of infected among those tested, fell from 11.6% on Dec. 24 to 9.1% on Dec. 31.
