Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 29) – Former Bureau of Customs (BOC) Deputy Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno has been appointed administrator of the Office of Civil Defense, replacing former Army General Raymundo Ferrer.
“The Office of Civil Defense welcomes its new administrator: Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno. He was OCD’s civil defense executive officer back in 2012 and his assumption as CDA is a homecoming of sorts,” the agency said.
Malacañang confirmed that Nepomuceno took his oath on Wednesday before Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
From 2013 to 2017, Nepomuceno was the BOC’s Deputy Commissioner for Enforcement. Later, he served as BOC Assistant Commissioner from 2017 to 2018. He shifted to the private sector in 2018 as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Orion Power Holdings Corp.
Before that, he was a Director and Executive Officer of the OCD from 2012 to 2013.
“As a seasoned public servant, Usec. Nepomuceno brings to OCD his years of administrative experience as well as the drive to further push the national resilience agenda to safeguard Filipino communities against the threats of disaster,” the OCD said.
Former Senator Panfilo Lacson previously included Nepomuceno in a list of Customs officials allegedly involved in corruption.
