DOH logs over 5,600 new COVID-19 infections

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 26) — The Philippines logged 5,690 new COVID-19 cases from Dec.19 to 25, down by a quarter from the previous week, the Department of Health said on Monday.

As of Dec. 25, a total of 516 severe and critical COVID-19 patients were admitted in hospitals, while 19.1% of the intensive care unit beds were occupied, according to the DOH weekly case bulletin.

An average of 813 daily COVID-19 cases were also recorded, which is 25% lower than cases from Dec. 12 to 18.

DOH also listed 172 more deaths, of which 24 occurred from Dec. 12 to 25. The rest died as far back as August 2020.

Meanwhile, 636 new infections, 26 deaths, and 967 recoveries were reported by the DOH Covid-19 tracker on Dec. 26.

The department reminded the public to follow minimum health protocols to be safe from COVID-19.

“Pinapaalalalahan ang lahat na huwag maging kampante sa banta ng COVID-19. Bagkus, dapat natin ipagpatuloy ang tamang pagsunod sa minimum public health standards,” DOH said.
