Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 25) — The Department of Health on Sunday reported five fireworks-related injuries from Dec. 21 to 25, a week before the New Year celebration.
The cases were recorded from 61 DOH sentinel hospitals.
The total number of injuries is 50% lower compared with the same period in 2021.
The Health Department urged Filipinos to avoid using fireworks and firecrackers to have a safe celebration during the holidays.
Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry appealed to the public not to buy uncertified local products as these may “result in damage to properties and cause fatalities.”
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. asked local government units to establish instead common areas for fireworks displays.
