Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 23) – Motorists will be able to take the road connecting the North and South Luzon Expressways to be opened partially within the first three months of 2023, builder NLEX Corporation said on Friday.
The connector, from Grace Park in Caloocan City to España interchange in Manila, will substantially cut travel time in those areas to five minutes from the usual 45 minutes because of heavy traffic, the company said.
It said the final segment will be open by mid-2023.
With the road connector covering España to Sta. Mesa in Manila, travel time will only be 10 minutes from Caloocan to Sta. Mesa from the usual one hour.
While much has been accomplished with the project, NLEX executives said challenges still include acquiring right-of-way from private landowners.
The ₱23-billion NLEX Connector road project began in January 2022.

NLEX said the connector road will reduce cargo truck traffic in the western part of Metro Manila.
It estimated around 35,000 motorists will take the connector road daily.
