Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 21) — The Department of Energy (DOE) on Tuesday advised the public to verify the efficiency of energy-saving devices (ESDs) before making a purchase.
“We would like to inform everyone that these activities tend to deceive our energy consumers and promote their personal interests,” the DOE said in an advisory. “To verify their claim for efficiency, consumers should ask these sellers for a test result coming from the DOE regarding their ESD products.”
According to the agency, it has yet to find an ESD “that can satisfy its claim for efficiency.”
The DOE also urged consumers to report “unscrupulous practices” to its Consumer Welfare and Promotions Office.
