House approves more priority measures of Marcos administration in single session

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 13) — The House of Representatives passed a dozen more priority legislations of the Marcos administration, Speaker Martin Romualdez disclosed on Tuesday.

He said the measures were all approved on final reading during Monday’s session, while another one was passed on second reading.

In a statement, Romualdez said these are “included in the Common Legislative Agenda (CLA) of the Legislative-Executive Advisory Council (LEDAC) to ensure better public services for Filipinos and expedite economic growth.”

This brings the total priority measures passed by the lower chamber to 15 since it resumed session last Nov. 7, he added.

The proposed measures approved on third and final reading are:

-Health Emergency Auxiliary Reinforcement Team Act

-New Agrarian Emancipation Act

-Philippine Passport Act

-Internet Transaction Act

-Waste-to-Energy Act

-Free Legal Assistance for Military and Uniformed Personnel Act

-Revised National Apprenticeship Program Act

-Public–Private Partnership (PPP) Act

-Magna Carta of Barangay Health Workers

-Real Property Valuation and Assessment Reform Act

-Eastern Visayas Development Authority (EVDA) Act

-Leyte Ecological Industrial Zone Act

Two other priority measures were also approved last week by congressmen, namely the bill creating the Virology Institute of the Philippines, and the Passive Income and Financial Intermediary Taxation Act (PIFITA), which is the fourth package under the Comprehensive Tax Reform Program (CTRP).

Meanwhile, the House also approved on second reading during Monday’s session the Government Financial Institutions Unified Initiatives to Distressed Enterprises for Economic Recovery (GUIDE) bill, another measure under the CLA.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has so far signed the SIM Registration Act and the Resetting of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, which are two other bills in the CLA adopted by the LEDAC.

Also on Monday, lawmakers began plenary deliberations on the proposed creation of the Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF).

The lower chamber aims to approve it on second reading this week before it goes on a month-long break.
