Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 13) — Third major player DITO Telecommunity, a venture between Davao-based businessman Dennis Uy and China Telecom, sees the increase in subscribers to continue in 2023 as it moves to reach more areas in the Philippines.
DITO chief technology officer Rodolfo Santiago said the telco currently has 14 million customers, higher than the 12 million target for 2022.
The company reached this milestone in August, sooner that its initial year-end goal.
“We want to double that, at least double,” DITO chief administrative officer Adel Tamano told the media on Tuesday.
Late in September, the challenger to the duopoly of Globe and PLDT passed its third mandated performance audit – even surpassing its commitments for network coverage and internet speeds.
So far, Santiago said DITO covers 74% of the population with more than 6,000 towers already deployed.
