Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 9) — Two Colegio de San Juan de Letran cagers were meted with a warning and a one-game suspension, respectively, over separate incidents that took place during Game 1 of their NCAA men’s basketball finals match-up against the College of St. Benilde (CSB) Blazers.
In a statement, the NCAA said it “strongly reprimanded” Pao Javillonar for unsportsmanlike behavior when he “touched the private part” of CSB’s Will Gozum in the middle of the contest.
The NCAA stressed this violates the league’s manual of operations, warning that a repeat of a similar offense will merit a stricter penalty.
Javillonar was also tasked to issue an apology, and render community service “as a rehabilitative measure.”
Meanwhile, Letran’s Kyle Tolentino will be missing Game 2 of the finals after the NCAA suspended him for a landing spot violation.
“The evidence on record clearly showed that Tolentino occupied the landing spot of [CSB’s Miguel] Oczon resulting in an injury,” the league said.
Letran will aim for a three-peat in the collegiate tourney when it takes on the Blazers in Game 2 on Dec. 11.
