Shanghai, China (CNN Philippines, November 4) — Chinese President Xi Jinping vowed China will institutionalize economic reforms in its bid to further open up to the outside world and work with more markets and countries.
Speaking virtually at the 5th China International Import Expo (CIIE) held in Shanghai, Xi highlighted the need for more deepened international cooperation to share economic opportunities.
“China remains committed to the fundamental national policy of opening up to the outside world, pursues a mutually beneficial strategy of opening up and adheres to the right course of economic globalization,” Xi said.
Xi also vowed China will strive to provide more opportunities to the world by working with all markets, upgrade trade and goods, and import more quality products.
“We will engage fully and deeply in WTO reform negotiations, promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, and enhance international macro-economic policy coordination, with a view to jointly fostering new drivers for global growth,” the Chinese leader said.
Beijing also said it will push for the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement to promote high standards on free trade.
A brainchild of Xi, the CIIE was first held in 2018 to provide firm support to trade liberalization and economic globalization, and to open the Chinese market to the world.

The Philippine pavilion will be themed “Festival of Island Flavors” which will showcase the rich and colorful Filipino flavors and culture. The pavilion will also highlight the shared roots of the Philippines and China as a take-off point for a stronger trade relationship.
“The Philippine Pavilion will demonstrate how Filipino food reflects the country’s vibrant culture, spotlighting its unique qualities as a tropical archipelago to stand out in an increasingly competitive international market,” the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) said on the International Food Expo Philippines website.
The Philippine pavilion will offer wide-ranging products from 62 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
