
In a social media post, beloved Disney characters Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck are featured in the illustrated recipe of the Filipino dish.
“Chicken adobo is a popular Filipino dish, and each family has their own way of making it,” the post read.
“Filipino adobo is salty and sweet! It’s different from Spanish or Latin adobo, which normally includes tomatoes, paprika, and other spices,” it added.
Online travel guide Taste Atlas named adobo as among the world’s best dishes in 2021. Described as the country’s “closest thing to a national dish,” adobo ranked 81st out of 100 dishes in the list.
There are different kinds of adobo recipe such as pork adobo, adobo sa gata, adobong puti, adobong pusit.
Fil-Am artist Bianca Austria created the illustrated recipe.
“This has been in the works for a few weeks now and I’m so excited to finally share with you all! For Filipino American History Month, I had the honor of working with @disney to bring to life an illustrated chicken adobo recipe!” said Austria in an Instagram post.
“Thank you to the team at Choreus and Disney for having me on board, although this project was short and sweet, it’s definitely one for the books,” she added.
Disney previously paid homage to the Filipino culture. In 2020, Disney UK released an advertisement featuring Filipino Christmas traditions. The company also released a tutorial on how to make a parol, the vernacular for Christmas lantern.
