
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 28) — Authorities confiscated ₱19.6 million worth of cocaine from an American passenger in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Tuesday, according to the Bureau of Customs (BOC).
The suspect arrived in Manila from Doha, Qatar. Brazil was the port of origin. Upon inspection of his luggage, authorities found 3.7 kilos of cocaine worth ₱9,610,000.
The suspect will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act or Republic Act 9165.
Joint forces from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, NAIA-Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, and the BOC carried out the operation following a tip from the agents’ trusted informants.
