Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 12) — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed a new commissioner to the Bureau of Immigration.
Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles confirmed on Monday that Norman Garcera Tansingco is now the agency’s new chief.
“We confirm the appointment of Atty. Norman Garcera Tansingco as Commissioner, Bureau of Immigration, Department of Justice,” she said in a statement.
Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez has transmitted Tansingco’s appointment letter to Justice Secretary Boying Remulla, who supervises the Immigration bureau.
Tansingco previously worked with former Immigration Commissioner Marcelino Libanan as chief of staff.
Tansingco will take over the duties currently held by Rogelio Gevero Jr., who was appointed officer-in-charge by Remulla in July.
